Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
The finance manager is responsible for all aspects of financial administration in the practice.
The Applebeech midwife team will attend pregnant women of this practice in the ante-natal and post-natal period and offer delivery care to those booked at Whiston. The midwives can be contacted at The Healthcare Resource Centre on 0151 495 5079.
The district nursing team, led by Christine Burge, deal with all the nursing requirements in the home and they are also offer appointments for routine dressings, removal of sutures and ear syringing.
The cardiac nurse is a specialist registered nurse working in the area of heart treatment. The cardiac nurse deals with cardiovascular diseases, coronary conditions and other cardiological conditions.
The wellbeing nurse forms therapeutic relationships with mentally ill people and their families. The range of conditions is vast; neuroses, psychoses, phychological and personality disorders all come under the broad heading of mental health.
